Eidi or Eidia is a gift that is usually given to Youngers by elder relatives and family friends as part of the celebration of the two Muslim holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Eidia is similar to receiving a gift for a birthday and the most common type of Eidia is giving money to Youngers.[1][2][3]

It should be given to-

  • children by the other elders of the family;
  • wives by their husbands;
  • elder sister by their brothers; or
  • mothers/mothers in law by their sons.
  • friends by their friends
  • sisters to all family members
