COI contributions

I would like to submit an improved version of the article for consideration. This represents a substantial body of work to bring the 4-sentence article up to a B-class(ish) article. Corporate 17:48, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Approved, draft moved over the existing article. DES (talk) 02:47, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the "see also" section, there is a similar-sounding registrar, abbreviated as PDR Pty Ltd , a subsidiary of Directi in India. The URL for the business is www.publicdomainregistry.com and they did register (and mantain?) a ORG in 2011 which was subsequently flagged at PIR. Understandably the contribution is an improvement for the purposes of disambiguating between PDR and PIR, but perhaps not in the see also section. Apart from the similar-sounding name, other COI in Directi operating several registrars has shown potential circumvention of the UDRP.

The Public Interest Registry published a book on their history and the history of the .org domain, which I used to fill in the "citation needed" placeholder that was in the original draft. I felt it might also be good under a Further Reading header, but would like to leave it to an impartial editor to decide. Corporate 03:32, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Further reading

  • Wybenga, Eric (2012). @10Million.org: A Quarter Century in the Life of a Domain (PDF) (First Edition ed.). Reston, Virginia: Public Interest Registry. {{cite book}}: |edition= has extra text (help)

Not done, because the Further reading section should not duplicate the content of the External links section, and should normally not duplicate the content of the References section, unless the References section is too long for a reader to use as part of a general reading list - WP:FURTHER. Any disagreement, please re-request. Thanks. Shaz0t (talk) 23:44, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, ok - no problem. Corporate 00:31, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request edit 01-JUNE-2018

I would like to suggest making .org lowercase in all references to make it consistent with other uses of the .org domain, and please remove references of ‘the’ before any Public Interest Registry name as it was erroneously used as the name of the organization.Tconnort (talk) 20:08, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Per: WP:COIU, this would fall under example #3, as an uncontroversial edit which COI editors are allowed to implement on their own. .spintendo  00:18, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Tconnort (talk) 12:50, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, in the DNS article caps are the norm, without the dot. 126.161.142.174 (talk) 09:19, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
