My Love from the Star is a 2017 Philippine television drama comedy romantic fantasy series broadcast by GMA Network. The series is based on a 2013 Korean drama of the same title. Directed by Joyce E. Bernal, it stars Jennylyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva. It premiered on May 29, 2017 on the network's Telebabad line up replacing Destined to be Yours and worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV.[1] The series concluded on August 11, 2017 with a total of 55 episodes. It was replaced by the second season of Alyas Robin Hood in its timeslot.
The series is streaming online on HOOQ and YouTube.[2][3]
Premise
400 years ago, Matteo’s spaceship crash landed on Earth. Since then, he lives on Earth while eagerly waiting for beings from his planet to take him back home. Three months before his expected departure from Earth, he encounters Steffi. At first, they don’t get along, but will eventually have feelings for one another and fall in love.[4]

- A famous Filipino actress who is very blunt and believes that she is every man's dream, until she meets her stoic condominium neighbor, Matteo Domingo. She has rivalry with the latter and would develop feelings for him.
- Gil Cuerva[6] as Matteo Domingo
- A stoic and aloof being, he once loved a girl named Marcella who lived during the Spanish period for liking him no matter his contrast is. After Marcella died from saving him, he waits to return home. Living a solitary life for years, he meets Steffi Chavez, a girl who looked like Marcella and whom he saved once saved before. He has been Steffi's savior since then.

- Steffi's childhood best friend. Despite her sweet demeanor and melodious leverage, she is insecure of Steffi and has a hopeless love for Winston.

- Steffi's rival in the showbiz industry.

- Steffi and Yuan's mother who pretends that their family is kilter just to conceit the wealth she's gaining from her daughter.

- Lucy and Peter's mother who wants the best for them. She pushes Lucy to dethrone Steffi's high status in the entertainment industry.
- Spanky Manikan[7]/Crispin Pineda as Juan "Mr. Jang" Avanado
- Matteo's lawyer and friend.
- Renz Fernandez[7] as Detective Peter Yuzon
- Lucy's older brother. A juvenile and zealous prosecutor investigating Rachel Andrada's death. He discovers Matteo's secret as he investigates deeper into the case.
- Migo Adecer as Yuan Federico Chavez
- Steffi's rebel and stubborn younger brother, who at first despises his older sister's relationship with Matteo, but grows to like him because of their shared desire in astronomy.

- Steffi's road manager and personal assistant. He is usually under stress because of his boss' impossible commands but remains loyal to the actress.

- Steffi's stylist and personal assistant who is usually stressed because of her boss' impossible demands but remains loyal to the actress.

- A secret agent who works together with Peter on Rachel Andrada's lawsuit.

- A comic book store owner and Steffi's high school friend. She had a crush on Matteo the day she just met him whom but realizes that it is impossible for them to get together.

- The CEO of the talent agency of which Steffi is under, who often argues with Lynelle when the latter wishes for something he can't give right away. He also bullies Winston in his OJT but is shocked when he learns Winston's a Libredo. Dominic and Lynelle are accomplices in faking an identity of being a Libredo.

For years of living their lives with dignity, his singing career was antiquated which leads to Lynelle's dismay and subsequent annulment of their marriage. He was outcast by her former wife and let Yuan go alone, since Steffi is already an actress and her breadwinner that time. He often visits his children longing for his family's presence.

Production
On March 24, 2016, GMA Network announced that they have acquired the rights to remake the South Korean television series My Love from the Star.[10] On April 19, 2016, Joyce E. Bernal said she would direct the television series, and Alden Richards would play the role of Matteo, originally played by actor Kim Soo-hyun.[11] On July 4, 2016, Jennylyn Mercado was hired to play the role of Steffi, originally played by Jun Ji-hyun.[12] While Richards was later announced not to appear in the series.[13] On December 9, 2016, after conducting multiple auditions for the role of Matteo, Gil Cuerva was hired.[5] The role of Doris was first offered to Alice Dixson which she turned down due to personal reasons. On July 6, 2017, Spanky Manikan was replaced by Crispin Pineda due to health reasons.[14]
Ratings
According to AGB Nielsen Philippines' Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement people in television homes, the pilot episode of My Love from the Star earned an 11% rating.[15] While the final episode scored an 8.8% rating.[16] The series had its highest rating on June 1, 2016 with an 11.1% rating.[17]
