Ashley McElhiney article--Help!

Sorry to bother you, but I am unsure if I've created two articles: Ashley McElhiney and Ashley_McElhiney or not. Of course, I want to have the two-word name version, since it seems more searchable. I noticed that you had done a redirection...

Thanks very much for your help!

Larry

Lmcelhiney 17:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation about " " vs "_", that is helpful to know. However, when I do a search for "McElhiney" there is no reference listed to this article, just other's in which the name is found. When I look for "Ashley_McElhiney", then it goes right to the article. I'd appreciate your thoughts, please.

Thanks,

Larry

Thank you, a thousand times thank you for your tireless fight against vandals (especially the ones that hit my userspace). You rule. Cheers. L0b0t 21:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1994

Yeah because 15 million dollars isnt notable?--MNAdam 21:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, pretty much. Sorry if this sounds insensitive, but why is this particular high school arson newsworthy worldwide? -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 21:06, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Where does it say "worldwide" on that page, there are plenty of "local" subjects on that page.--MNAdam 21:10, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I did more research, it was the largest high school arson fire ever in the united states. There were also two other high schools in the area that had arsons around the same time.--MNAdam 21:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Counter

Hiya..I was looking at a few of the edit counters out there and was trying to find one that I can put on my user wiki...do you have any suggestions of a good one? --Mikecraig 23:16, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interiot's new Kate replacement is pretty good... I'd go with that, personally: [1] -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 23:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that :) - looks like a good one! --Mikecraig 23:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Omicronpersei8, is the page still a speedy? Someone's moved it, and I can't find any evidence of the speedy tag anymore. riana_dzasta 06:06, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it was deleted and recreated. Google doesn't help with determining the new version to be a copyvio, but the current incarnation of the page does look a little fluffy. I'm gonna leave it alone for now as long as it's not a copy-and-paste job. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 06:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Might AfD later on, doesn't seem particularly notable. Journals generally get more than 472 Ghits. riana_dzasta 06:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm a bit jealous actually. You got a page, I got my user page blanked and comedy words entered on my talk page! Ha. ;) Bubba hotep 16:49, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like we stepped on each others toes on this one: I deleted it on sight, but you added the CSD tag afterwards. Oh well. --humblefool® 07:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As in I recreated it? Doesn't look like that's the case, if that's what you mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jarrett_Szeftel&action=history -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 07:36, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it looks like the author re-created it again after that, and I deleted it again just now. Sigh. --MCB 07:58, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for staying on top of that. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 07:59, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thedrunkendialer.com

I am wondering of this site could be considered an internet phenomena or not. I know it is rather popular and extremely humorous. It features a guy who holds a weekly contest offering $100 via PayPal to the individual who leaves him he best Drunk dialing message on his voicemail.
I did not add this site to this article yet for fear that people would think I am self-promoting. I have no affiliation with the site and can’t find any direct marketing used to purchase products. I just think it is very funny and well known around my area.
I look forward to some objective input before I add, or do not add this site to the list. Take a look for yourself, you be the judge…

Wii Startup Disc

I noticed that you voted for merge on the AfD page of Wii Startup Disk. User:TJ Spyke has provided us with the following information: "In the new IGN Weekly (IGN Weekly Holiday 06), they have the final Wii box and take everything in it out. There was no startup disc there (they also re-confirm that Wii Sports will just come in the same cheap cardboard that Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt came in)." Please consider changing your vote to redirect, as this disc does not exist, and people may search for it and need a redirect. A consensus for this issue would be excellent. RfA thanks

Thank you for the extra feathers on my wings!

Thank you so much, Omicronpersei8, for your support in my RfA, which passed on November 11, 2006, with a final tally of 82/0/2. I am humbled by the kind support of so many fellow Wikipedians, and I vow to continue to work and improve with the help of these new tools. Should you have any request, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your input

I greatly appreciate you opinions and value your perspectives. Your vantage point enables me to better conceptualize Wikipedia’s purpose. I will watch this site in the future to determine if it becomes more notable, however I won’t lose any sleep if it is not included in that particular article. However, I did find it to be quite hilarious, yet I understand that humor is not a criterion for adding a link to an article.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Aliens DO probe ass!

Just because you have never been probed in the anus by an alien DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT REAL. Please show some courtesy. I appreciate that you are trying to prevent idiots from making nonsense articles, but this is REAL and it has happend to me. It was a very traumatic experience and writing about it is thereputic. Please do not block my page. Thank you.

Okay Sorry

If you do not appreciate aliens that is up to you. I will make more conventional articles from now on.

Forum Ice Uck Peddie 02:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Uck Peddie 02:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

This website is relatively new, about 3 months old. It is not a buisness operation and is not operating with a for-profit motive. It had previously had wikilinks to another wikipedia entry -- Fanhome -- but it was decided to be deleted since the informal relationship between the two websites ceased to exist.

Kindly inform what further steps should be made to the structure of the entry to make it conform to any other wiki standards.

Thanks.

Also, this particular entry has existed for a couple of weeks now. I did some minor editing to it, that's all; hence my bewilderment at why it was flagged for speedy deletion now. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Uck Peddie (talkcontribs) 02:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

It existed but was deleted: [2] The problem with the article is not with its appearance, but with its notability. It appears to fail WP:WEB, which is the main concern. If it's not notable, it's just not notable and that's that – sorry.
Also, that's a fantastic section heading. I am keeping it for posterity. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is completely absurd. The entry has existed for some time now. You are deleting it essentially because I made some cosmetic edits otherwise you wouldn't have bothered. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Uck Peddie (talkcontribs) 02:52, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I tagged it now because you recreated it now: [3] -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:54, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is completely absurd. It had already been in existence. I added some categories, made a cosmetic edit and saved. This shouldn't be a big deal. If there was an issue it should have arisen when I created the bloody thing back a few weeks ago. Jesus, thank god for such subjective definitions otherwise we wouldn't have wiki entry for that notable topic, teabagging - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_bagging Good Lord. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Uck Peddie (talkcontribs) 02:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Wow. I'm impressed

I'm a Wiki rookie, and yes I really found out about Wikipedia's 'editability'(is that a word?) through the notorious, fore-mentioned 'Get This' from Australia and it lead me to want to create a Wiki page about my and/or my bands efforts in the local Brisbane music scene. Not sure how this content goes but I'm learning.
I just wanted to pass on my absolutely uninformed thanks to someone who is obviously well respected and puts in a lot of work into this for little or no return and this kind of selflessness certainly should not no unthanked.
Good on ya mate,

Thanks for your reply i am just wondering of how much edits do i need or time cause i am really interested to join .

Hope it is better now

You put a "notability" notice on the Nuçi's Space article on which I'm working. I have added quite a few references to newspaper articles and a few performers in the relevant sections. I will still be working on it, but I hope this is enough to establish its notability. In any case, I have to sleep, :) and don't want the page deleted before I can work on it again! OpenNMS - notability

Content has been added to the OpenNMS entry in order to comply with the notability guidelines. Please reconsider. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raffen (talkcontribs) 12:39, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Heya. I added some actual content to the above article, so if you think that's enough, please remove the {{context}} tag. Just thought I might bring this to your attention. Cheerio, Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 23:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thank you. We might need to see a little more info on its notability, though, I think (although I realize you're not the article creator). -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 23:35, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Also, thanks for catching the double redirect I created at "william s. sahakian". I was just about to nominate that page for deletion -- would that still be a good idea? Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 00:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'd agree with that. Seems like an implausible typo to me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 00:03, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you prodded this article and the tag was deleted by the author. Just for your information I have listed the article at AfD. -- No Guru 20:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
