God Is Good Motors is an indigenous road transportation company that operates interstate bus services to highly travelled destinations across Nigeria.[1] It was established in 1998 with headquarters in Edo state, Nigeria.[2]

About

God Is Good Motors is a member of The GIG Group.[3] It rebranded to GIGM.com in December 2015 as part of its strategy to change public perception in Nigeria.[4][5] The GIGM.com brand is relies on technology to make booking and seat reservations easier and more convenient for travelers.[6]

God Is Good Motors created an Intelligence Command Unit (ICU) to regulate the speed limit of its fleet of over 700 buses. Since mid-2017, the ICU has utilized an in-house software solution, called The GIG Mobility, which has become the nucleus of all operations at GIGM.[7] They hope that this will ensure the safety of commuting passengers. [8]

In June, 2016, GIGM introduced Child Fare rates for commuters who travel with children, so they could pay cheaper fares while traveling along various destinations in Nigeria.[9]

The company signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" (a private-public partnership) in September, 2017, with Delta State Government to manage the Delta State transport line.[10]

Unfortunately, despite their attempts to cater to the needs of local communities, God Is Good Motors has suffered attacks by gunmen who targeted their passengers for ransom.[11][12]

History

God is Good Motors was founded by Edwin Ajaere in Edo state, Nigeria. Ajaere was kidnapped and subsequently killed in March 2009. After his death, his son, Chidi Ajaere, returned to Nigeria so he could take over the leadership and management of the business as Chairman and CEO of the company.[13]

Chidi Ajaere improved the business model of the transport company; relying on the popularity of smart technology by introducing online booking and pricing, seat reservations through an app, and a website, to make operations easier for travelers.[14]

After he took over, the company logo and typeface was changed, staff was re-trained, GIGM-branded uniforms were introduced, and the company's entire fleet was fitted with air-conditioning systems.

Chidi Ajaere worked with internal professionals to orientate the company's staff and retrain drivers.

The GIGM Board is currently composed of the President, Executive Chairman and two Directors. They are: Stella Ajaere, Chidi Ajaere, Uche Ajaere and Chima Ajaere.[15]
