Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your tireless behind-the-scenes efforts. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

John from Idegon submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Steven to be Editor of the Week for his tireless behind the scenes WIKIGNOME work. He does much of his gnoming in the realm of WikiProject Schools and is one of the most active editors in that WikiProject. He also is a frequent participant in discussions on the project talk page, where his comments are always insightful, highly clueful for an editor of his experience level, and helpful. Although he has been a registered editor since late 2016, he only became highly active this year, with over 3,000 edits, and indiciative of his gnomework par excellance, these edits are to over 1,900 different articles. For these reasons, and also for his great patience with slow moving Wikipedians, I am overjoyed to nominate Steven for the EDDY.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

Thanks again for your efforts! ―Buster7  20:32, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Steven, I've been involved in the editor of the week project for quite a while and have nominated several people. This award was originally intended for editor's just like you, who exemplify the Wiki spirit and do the needed things without the glory of DYK's, GA's and FA's on their userpage. This place stops working just as soon as people like you stop doing what you do. And thank you so much for choosing the school project to do most of it in! John from Idegon (talk) 20:46, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Buster7, and John, I don't know what to say, I'm greatly honoured and just thank you, thank you, thank you so much for nominating me for Editor of the Week. Thank you for your kind words and for recognising my efforts, this means a lot to me. I have come across many school article issues where I needed your help and you've always been there to help me for which I am grateful, an excellent coordinator of the WikiProject and a great editor to work with. I've not really had much thought about creating a userpage, but I'm going to create one so I can display this, thank you! :) -Steven (Editor) (talk) 23:29, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

reversion

I don't see how this revert is reasonable. According to WP:REVERT, "Reverting is appropriate mostly for vandalism or other disruptive edits". I was fixing errors and making improvements. If you desire to make further improvements to an article you are certainly free to do so. But reverting as you did here is not acceptable. MB 19:23, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MB, yes I'm aware I reverted your edit and with the reason "Cleaning up properly on next edit." which may not seem reasonable. However, it was also because of your unexplained removal of logo/emblem, which I forgot to mention on this edit, but was going to mention on the next edit (which I did). You didn't leave me enough time and while I was working on the article for the next edit, you had already reverted my revert resulting in an edit conflict. As you can see, I have made that edit. It's easy to just remove unsupported parameters from the infobox, but the thing is, I've been cleaning up infobox issues for schools for a while now, and the infobox isn't the only problem, most of the school articles with infobox errors have other issues, and it makes sense and makes things easier to address this at the same time. I have also converted district articles that were using the wrong infobox. I noticed you made a conversion for this district. All you did was change "Infobox school" to "Infobox school district" and removed a minor number of parameters, but left a proliferation of parameters that are only supported for Infobox school. Yes, they are blank and not filled in, but should someone else fill one of these parameters in, it's going to flag up as an unsupported parameter. I have addressed this which you can see in the edit history/article. It is helpful and I appreciate you helping to remove infobox-related errors for schools, but I just want say and respectfully ask, if you're only going to remove unsupported parameters, can you please leave the infobox school issues to me. Otherwise, I would have to go through your edits in order to check what you've done and address other issues which may include the infobox. Infobox modules and maps

Thank you for reminding me of the {{OSM Location map}} template. It looks very good in the Schools infobox. I have tried adding it to NUAST and John Kyrle High School and it seems very flexible- and also works in a default sense if the coordinates are just repeated as at John Masefield High School. What do you think? I have always found the pushpin maps a waste of infobox space and this seems a viable alternative. But why call the field 'module', surely it should be something containing the word map? --ClemRutter (talk) 10:50, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Whisperback

You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at Kudpung's talk page. 10:39, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages.
