You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:

Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a certain number of days and made a certain number of edits.

If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (109.255.33.206) is used to identify you instead.

I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Ronen Palan has been reverted.
Your edit here to Ronen Palan was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://vimeo.com/178210332) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, please ignore this notice.

Why has Bbb23 blocked this IP? I made what I thought was a helpful edit to the RfA list (other Admins have linked to the talk page when moving RfA material there?), and have been blocked for 6 months because of that? I don't think this IP address has had any history of disruption (per this talk page), and I have not made any past disruptive edits to Wikipedia from it (and I have made several edits from this account over the past months and contributed to several articles). This block seems very harsh for an edit I felt was a helpful repeat of other similar edits on RfA? Can I appeal this block?

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This is a shared IP address and I make edits from it. To my knowledge, this internet account has never been the source of any disruption or any warnings. I made what I thought was a helpful edit to an RfA page today to link material moved to the RfA talk page [1]. There have been several other identical such edits on this same RfA page by full-account editors: [2] and [3]. A user Bbb23 reverted my edit as "unnecessary refactoring" and I left it alone and made no further edits. However, I then found that Bbb23 blocked this IP for 6 months. I know I am a non-account, but I thought that was okay and that I can do good faith edits on any page that is not specifically protected and limited to full account editors. I would like to still be able to edit from this IP as a non-account.

Decline reason:

Since this is a CheckUser block, it's likely that the IP address has been abused in ways that wouldn't show up in the contributions, for example to create accounts that then engage in vandalism or sockpuppetry. If you aren't the person whose conduct led to the block, you're welcome to request the creation of an account. The IP, however, cannot be unblocked at this time. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Huon Are you saying that my edit led to a check of this account that showed that vandalism and sockpuppetry were coming from this account (nothing to do with my edit)? Therefore, it was not my edit at the RfA, but other actions that have led to this block? Have I got that right?
