Ralph Moriarity deBit

[edit]

Vitvan, also known as Ralph Morality deBit (1883-1936) was an American Master of the Ancient Wisdom teachings. His pseudonym, Vitvan, translates in Sanskrit as "one who knows." Vitvan founded The School of the Natural Order[1] located in Baker, Nevada.

Life

[edit]

Vitvan lived and worked among other giants of his time, including Einstein, Steiner, Gurdjieff, Blavatsky, Korzybski and Reich. Vitvan taught that we live in a vast energy world and each individual is a dynamic energy system. This was a truth known long before modern science proved it empirically. "Vitvan went through the same processes, and checked and verified all the ancient findings. His modern presentation of the ancient teaching, however, is couched in the language of the 20th century--the century when the sciences triumphed to make fantastic excursions into space. The "inner space" which they have neglected became his special province. And all that he wrote and taught over the long years was in elaboration of this, the structure-function-order of the Eternal Wisdom. Vitvan presented the Gnosis in a non-metaphysical way. He used the precise language of Semantics, incorporating esoteric knowledge from Greek, Egyptian, Christian and Oriental wisdom teachings. He taught an "abstracting process" that saw the cosmic process "as a stupendous infolding-unfolding process of light into energy and energy into living matter and the reversal -- living matter into energy and energy into light."

The name Vitvan was conferred upon deBit by his indian teacher, A. K. Mozumdar. Mozumdar, (Sanskrit for "Son of God)" had traveled to the United States at the mandate of his own teacher of 25 years, the Master Arumda. He explained to Mozumdar "that his excessive emotional ties to Mother India had drawn him to incarnation there; but that his real dharma was to serve the 'Great Plan' in America. 'The light of the ancient Vedas, teachings of the Egyptians and the Gnostic Wisdom of the Greeks will blend there in America, even as men of all nationalities will weld together in a great commonwealth. Old principles, as they will be revealed, will be given new names. A reformation of the Ancient Teachings will issue forth and the true destiny of America will emerge to illumine the universal fraternity of man (1). Go to that blessed land and serve the work. Even now, one awaits you whom you must take through to the greater vision. When Mozumdar arrived in the United States he immediately set about finding the 'waiting one' described by Arumda. He located and identified deBit long before they met in physical presence. He told deBit, "I found you very soon. But it was two years before I could bring you out of your forests."Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

Teachings

Vitvan described chakras as the seven centers of force, which are the operative authority of the power of consciousness. Teachers’s Guide (Vol 2) p. 7. Foci or force centers. Ibid p. 15.

The Seven seals (centers) along the axis of our spine, which are referred to in the Christian Bible as the seven seals of the apocalypse. When one reaches this state of development, the next seal that is awakened in the ascent of these ida pingala currents is the solar center. The force in generation was symbolized by the earth; force in generation at the solar center is symbolized by water. The force centers are functional foci of the power of consciousness. Teachers’s Guide (Vol 2) p. 7. Foci or force centers. Ibid p. 15.

The centers of force through which and by means of which the creative process on all levels and in every respect is brought about. Ibid (Vol 4) p. 10. The psychic nature is characterized by five force centers: The genital center, the solar center, the heart center, the throat center and the center in the forehead. Practices in Individual Development p. 4. In every human being are seven centers activated by the forces and powers of universal life, and through this activation all the operations of his being -- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual - are maintained. Bible Lessons p. 79. See Also: Force Centers, Four Somatic Divisions of Man.[1]

Caduceus (The staff of Hermes) symbolizes the awakening of force in the generative center and the continuance of that force through the process of awakening and the developing of the other four centers, making five in all. The completion of the journey is labeled the Chrestos. And then awakening of the Paraklete of the New Testament, Speirema of the Greeks and the Sanskrit Kundalini. Teachers’s Guide (Vol 4) p.23. Two lines running from the genital center to the pituitary or Ajna center. These two lines are diagrammatic of a positive and negative current. Practices in Individual Development p. 53.
