Mawar Nag is a high altitude lake in Kokernag tehsil of Anantnag (Islamabad) district of Jammu and Kashmir (IOK).Mawar Nag is not only famous as a fresh water lake but also for its picturesque landscape. Bounded by dense forests, snow clad mountains and pastures of Pooshbagh it is situated about 20 kms from Vailoo, Kokernag in the mountains of the Himalayan range. After crossing the upper mountain reaches of Gadole Ahlan and other small villages, one reaches the lake of Mawar Nag. The Mawar Nag is a source of fresh water for the adjoining areas. Many people use to go to Kishtwar using this route. It is said that there were 7 lakes but at present only two can be seen and the upper most lake has turned into a glacier.

This track was deemed to be the easiest, and nearest to reach Pir Panjal in recent times (A motorable road was constructed from Kokernag Via Sinthan Top to Kishtwar) Mawar Nag is the largest lake in its surrounding areas, 3 miles in length and 1.5 miles in width. Sky-touching snow clad mountains fence this lake presenting a view of a cup of water. During the summer, the camps of the Gujjar community and shepherds with their grazing sheep in the pastures present a riveting picture. The pastures are used by the shepherds of other neighbouring villages and districts also. Also, the fragrance of wild flowers refreshes the whole environment and adds to its beauty
