Victoria Dayneko (born on May 12, 1987) is a singer, songwriter, and actress[1][2]. In 2004, she started her career in Russia after her victory at the Star Factory-5 All-Russian TV show[3]. Victoria's songs have repeatedly topped the Russian charts[1], and the music video of the "Bei Sebia" song has garnered more than 30 million YouTube views[4]. Victoria won numerous national awards; she won Russian music award Golden Gramophone several times[1][5][6]. She was declared as a Singer of the Year by Russian Glamour magazine[7][8] and by Russian Fashion TV [3][9]. She starred for Russian Playboy magazine cover three times[10][11].

Victoria worked for Walt Disney Pictures and DreamWorks as part of voiceover of animated movies Tangled[12][13] and Trolls[14].

In 2014, Victoria released the “V[15][16] English-language album that she recorded in London[17]. In this album she was not only a performer but also a co-writer.

Life and Career

1987-2004: Early Life

Victoria was born on May 12, 1987 in the Kirovskiy, Kazakhstan[2][18]. She spent her childhood in Russia, in the city of Mirny[2]. The girl's parents Peter Dayneko and Evgeniya Dayneko[18] sent their daughter to the ballet where Victoria danced until the age of 11[18]. During her school years, Victoria was performing at various music venues in the city. She was invited first to the local Reflection pop group and then to a group called Phaeton[18].

At the age of 17, Victoria came to study in Moscow and enrolled in a university[19].

2004-2005: Star Factory

In 2004, at the age of 17, Victoria became a participant in the Star Factory-5 popular TV project on Channel One under the direction of singer Alla Pugacheva[18]. Victoria gained the most votes from the audience and became a project winner[18][1]. At the Star Factory-5 TV project Victoria performed two solo songs[18] - "Ya Budu Luchshe" (music by O. Voliando, lyrics by K. Arsenyev) and "Leila" (music by I. Matviyenko, lyrics by I. Matviyenko, Y. Buzhilova). The "Snilos Mne" music video clip was filmed (music by A. Marshal, lyrics by K. Kavalerian), singer Alexandr Marshal co-starred in the clip[20].

2005—2006: Leila song and first clip

After the end of the TV project, Russian composer and producer Igor Matviyenko began working with Victoria[21]. The singer's debut video for Leila song (music by I. Matvienko, lyrics by Y. Buzhilova) was filmed in 2005 in Thailand[22]. In 2006, Victoria released a music video for the song "Ya Prosto Srazu Ot Tebya Uydu" (music by I. Matviyenko, lyrics by O. Rovnaya). This song became a Russian hit[23].

2007: MTV Russia Music Awards nominated, Fashion TV Singer of The Year, Playboy

In early 2007, Victoria recorded a soundtrack for the movie "V Ozhidanii Chuda" - "Film Ne O Lyubvi" (music by I. Matviyenko, lyrics by O. Rovnaya)[24]. At the same time a video clip for this song was shot.

In fall of 2007 she was a candidate for MTV Russia Music Awards[25], ceding the nomination to singer MakSim[26]. She also was a Fashion TV award recipient as 2007 Fashion singer[3][18]. Earlier that year, Victoria starred for the Russian Playboy magazine[27]. In the same 2007 she participated in the "Ice Age" project along with Alexei Yagudin[28][29] with whom she reached the end of the project. Together with Alexei, Victoria recorded the song "Igolka" (music by I. Matviyenko, lyrics by O. Rovnaya) and a video clip[30].

2008—2011: First solo album and voiceover of Tangled by Walt Disney Pictures

On March 6, 2008, the debut album "Igolka" was released[31], which became a first album after three years of work[2][1].

In winter of 2008 Victoria took part in the TV game "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" with Alexei Yagudin[32].

In spring of 2009 she participated in the project of Channel One "Two Stars 2009”, where she took third place along with the actor Alexander Oleshko[33].

In 2009, Victoria became a co-host of the Scarlet Sails Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia along with Ivan Urgant[34].

In late 2010, she was a voice of the character Rapunzel in Walt Disney Pictures cartoon "Tangled" in Russian[13].

In 2011, she participated in the “Star Factory. Returning” project where Star Factory graduates of different years competed. Victoria was part of the producer Igor Matvienko’s team. As a result of the audience vote, Victoria won the project[18][35].

2012—2016: Start of an international career, first English-language album and voiceover of Trolls by DreamWorks Animation

On May 12, 2014, Victoria's music single video clip "Bei Sebia" premiered[36]. This clip has garnered more than 30 million YouTube views[4].

In November 2014 Victoria was declared as a Singer of the Year by Russian Glamour Magazine[7][8].

On November 14, 2014, the first English-language album named "V" premiered[15][16]. The album was co-written in London by Victoria Dayneko and music producer Pete «Boxsta» Martin[17].

In May 2015 Victoria was awarded the title of Distinguished Artist of Karachay-Cherkessia[37].

In October 2016, an American DreamWorks cartoon "Trolls" was released in Russia[38]. The character Poppy was voiced in Russian by Victoria Dayneko[39][40].

2017—present: "Magnitnye" album

In April 2018, the first season of director Marius Weisberg's series "Ulyotnyy Ekipazh" was released[41], where Victoria played Natasha - the main character’s ex-wife[42][41].

On June 29, 2018, Victoria released her second Russian-language album named "Smily", which included songs such as "Taesh" and "Bietsya Serdtze"[43][44].

On February 1, 2019, Victoria released the album "Magnitnye” (Eng. "Magnetic")[45][46]. In this album, Victoria is playing with musical genres and she is experimenting with sounds and adding dance variations[47].

Personal life

At the end of the summer of 2011 she began dating actor Alexei Vorobyov[48] (Alex Sparrow) with whom they were together up until May 2012[49]. She dated DrumCast drummer Dmitry Kleiman since October 2014, and she married him on April 14, 2015[50]. Their daughter was born on October 3, 2015[51][11]. They divorced in fall of 2017[52].
