The Coat of Arms of South Ossetia, adopted in 1998, is based off of the Coat of arms of North Ossetia-Alania, with the addition of the Russian text for "Republic South Ossetia", "Республика Южная Осетия" above the seal, and the Cyrillic Ossetic "Республикæ Хуссарыстон" (Rupublic of Khussar İrıston) below the seal.
