Suqovuşan[a] (also spelled as Sugovushan, formerly Madagiz (Armenian: Մատաղիս, romanized: Madaghis; Azerbaijani: Madagiz) is a village in the Tartar District of Azerbaijan Republic, but is de-facto controlled by the Republic of Artsakh. It is located 30 kilometers north-west of the left bank of the river Tartar.
The village has been the site of the 2016 Nagorno-Karabakh clashes. On 3 October 2020, Ilham Aliyev announced control of the village.[1] However, the Artsakh Defence Army denied these claims.[2]
