Sardaar Ji is Punjabi fantasy film directed by Rohit Jugraj, and starring Diljit Dosanjh, Mandy Takhar and Neeru Bajwa in lead roles. The trailer of the film was released on 18 May 2015. Sardaar Ji happens to be one of the first fantasy films to be made in Punjabi cinema.[3] It released on 26 June 2015, and managed to take the biggest opening ever for a Punjabi film in Punjab. [4][5][6]

Box office
The movie had a record opening in history of Punjabi Cinema,[9][10] it opened to 100% occupancies and shattered previous openings record of Jatt & Juliet 2. It collected ₹2.5 crore (US$310,000) on its first day in Punjab while Jatt & Juliet 2 earned ₹1.5 crore (US$190,000) on its opening day.[11] Sardaar Ji also earned ₹14.45 crore (US$1.8 million) in its opening weekend recovering its making costs of ₹11 crore (US$1.4 million) easily.[12] Sardaar Ji beated bollywood film ABCD 2 easily at overseas box office in top the international collection chart.[13][14]
In its first running week Sardaar Ji has collected over ₹28 crore (US$3.5 million), Highest Ever in Punjabi Cinema. Movie is expected to do total worldwide business of about ₹52 crore (US$6.5 million).[citation needed] It was first Punjabi movie (Chaar Sahibzaade has total collection of ₹72 crore (US$9.0 million) as movie was released in English, Hindi & Punjabi languages.) to cross ₹50 crore (US$6.3 million) mark worldwide[15] and ₹30 crore (US$3.8 million) mark only in India.
Critical response
CNN-IBN,[16] Hindustan Times[17] & The Tribune[18] gave positive reviews to the movie. Film was also reviewed by British media like The Guardian.[19]
