Scott Storch

Scott Spencer Storch (born December 16 1973) is a Canadian[1] entertainer, hip hop, pop, R&B, Reggaeton record producer, and occasional rapper. He has his own record label, Storch Music Company and his own music production company called Tuff Jew Productions LLC. He has produced for a variety of artists including Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Fat Joe, Ja Rule,Nelly, Raven Symone, Jadakiss, Daddy Yankee, Christina Aguilera, Nas, Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Brooke Hogan, The Game, Chamillionaire, Kelly Rowland, Teairra Mari, Chris Brown and many more.

Early life

Scott was born in 1973 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Storch is the son of a Fahad court reporter and a singer, both of Jewish heritage. He eventually moved to Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey and Coral Springs, FL, where he grew up in an upper class family. He attended middle school in Davie, FL, and dropped out of school in ninth grade to pursue a career in music. When he was 16, he became the pianist for the hip-hop band The Roots. The band got a record deal and things were moving up. Scott quit the band because he says he "needed to take a step backward to take a step forwards". He eventually moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and then Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is now a music producer.

He has an interest in Middle Eastern and Indian music, which comes across in some of his songs, most notably "Lean Back" by Fat Joe, "Candy Shop" and "Just a Lil' Bit" by 50 Cent, "Turn It Up" by Paris Hilton, "Poppin' Them Thangs" by G-Unit, "Let Me Love You" by Mario, "Playa's Only" by R. Kelly (featuring The Game), "Lock U Down" by Mýa, as well as "Naughty Girl" and "Baby Boy", both by Beyoncé (the latter featuring dancehall artist, Sean Paul), "About Us" by Brooke Hogan and "Turn It Up" by Chamillionaire..

Private life

Storch has been romantically linked with singers Shakira, Jennifer Lopez,[2] chat show host Jenny Jones, video model Erica Mena, hotel heiress Paris Hilton,[3][4]. He is rarely, if ever, photographed without his signature aviator-style sunglasses.

On April 16, 2006, Storch's on-and-off girlfriend of four years, Dae Daniel Esquire, gave birth to his second son, Jalen Storch.[3] Dae Daniel filed a paternity suit against Storch, verifying that he is the father of the baby, and claiming that her only assets are valued at $17,000. She wants custody and child support. Storch did not respond to the suit and was judged to be the baby's biological father.

Storch is well-known for wearing ostentatious diamond jewelry. However, he prefers a relatively low profile. As a producer, Storch's preferred method of creating beats/sounds is with a Mac Computer, A Motif, MPC 2000 XL. And VSTs. [5]

Influences

Storch has made a name for himself within the American music industry through production powered by his personal record label, Tuff Jew Productions. His versatile sound lends to a large, fluid clientele. Though somewhat hated on within the community for being "a piano man," Storch in truth is not only a talented instrumentalist, but a music academic as well. His personal study of Indian and Middle Eastern music often informs his sound. This Arabic flavor can be found in melodic lines in Fat Joe's "Lean Back," Beyoncé's "Baby Boy" and 50 Cent's "Candy Shop." "I have great respect for that type of music," Storch says. "That way of playing is different than our American music. The notes are different, the scales are different. They have half-notes that are in between the tones. It's some really interesting stuff" he says.(1) As a Canadian native, Storch's exposure to this type of music is not surprising--granted the growing 'Islamization of Europe' which has brought with it a particular connection between Arabic culture, France, and Canada by proxy.(2) A sample of the Arabic nuance central to Storch's style can be found in 113 and Cheb Mami's "Clando." [6] [7]

Conflicts

Timbaland

Hip-hop producer Timbaland refers to Storch in his single "Give It To Me," singing: I get a half a million for my beats, you get a couple grand/Never going to see the day that I ain't got the upper hand/I'm respected from California way down to Japan/I'm a real producer and you just the piano man/Your songs don't top the charts, I heard 'em, I'm not a fan." Timbaland confirmed that he was talking about Storch in an interview with MTV presenter Sway Calloway. He said that he would go after the trashtalkers on his new album Timbaland Presents Shock Value. [8] timbaland fucked justin timberlake in all holes with nelly furtardo Storch responded with the track "Built Like That" on February 26, 2007 co-produced by Nu Jerzey Devil, which features Philadelphia rapper NOX. On the track, Storch claims to have been solely responsible for the production of the 2002 Justin Timberlake hit "Cry Me a River," for which he received credit as a co-writer and pianist, but production was solely credited to Timbaland. He also claims that Timbaland's production partner Danja has been responsible for his recent string of hits with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, and mocks the commercial failure of Timbaland's former Beat Club label. Storch also made remarks about the appearance of the back of Timbaland's neck. Storch also claims that Timbaland owes his success to partner Danja Handz. They recently ended their feud. This was confirmed by Timbaland in the final issue of Scratch Magazine.[9]

Christina Aguilera

The eighth track on Disk 1 of Christina's album Back to Basics, called "F.U.S.S." stands for "Fuck U Scott Storch ". Scott Storch produced and co-wrote a number of songs for Aguilera's previous album Stripped, including "Walk Away", "Can't Hold Us Down", "Infatuation", "Fighter", "Loving Me 4 Me", "Keep On Singin' My Song", and "Underappreciated". Storch was asked to be involved with Back to Basics, but he refused to be a part of the project when Aguilera declined to fly him and his entourage out to her, amongst other demands, which led to a breakdown of their relationship.[citation needed]

"F.U.S.S.", was written as a response to the animosity between Aguilera and Scott Storch during the recording of Stripped. In the interview with Maxim, she said, "That’s a way of burying my experience with him. We did great work on Stripped... When I tried to work with him again, he made uncalled-for demands. It was disappointing that someone would get affected like that."[citation needed]
