It is located 30 kilometers north-west of the left bank of the river Tartar. There is a secondary school in the village.

The village has been the site of the 2016 Nagorno-Karabakh clashes. On 3 October, 2020 Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev announced control of the village, though this has not yet been confirmed or denied by neither Armenia or Artsakh.[1]
