"Truth & Consequences"

"Truth & Consequences" is the tenth episode of the second season of the NBC science fiction drama series Heroes. It aired on November 26, 2007.[1]

Plot

Peter Petrelli and Adam Monroe track down Victoria Pratt (Joanna Cassidy) in Searsmont, Maine, to learn the location of the Shanti virus. Peter tries to convince her of his good intentions, and she tells him the virus is in New Mexico. When she sees Peter is working with Adam, she shoots them both in the chest and prepares to decapitate Adam, claiming he can't recover from that. However, Peter knocks her out before she can follow through. Adam binds Victoria while she tells Peter about Adam's past crimes. Peter reads Victoria's mind and discovers the virus is in Odessa, Texas. Adam frees Victoria, and when she reaches for the shotgun, he shoots her before she can use it. As Peter walks out, Adam marks the kill by dropping a picture of Victoria with the helix symbol for "godsend" on her body, written in his blood.

Claire Bennet and her family are greeted by Bob, who gives them what he claims are the ashes of Noah Bennet. Bob assigns his daughter, Elle, to watch Claire. After scattering the ashes on a beach, Claire notices Elle and confronts her. Claire tells Elle she is going to reveal her ability publicly and expose everything the company has done to her family.

Noah Bennet and Mohinder Suresh argue over the use of Claire's blood to revive Noah. Claire's blood also reinforces the antibodies in Mohinder's blood, making the cure for the virus viable again. Suresh also discovers other variations of the virus the Company has made as part of their research into permanently deactivating a person's abilities. He insists that Bob assist him in destroying all variations of the virus.

Niki Sanders returns to New Orleans and tells her son, Micah that she is infected with a virus. Seeking comfort, Micah goes to get D.L.'s medal for saving the girl in "Four Months Ago...". However, he discovers that his backpack, containing the medal and his comics, had been taken by his cousin Damon and subsequently stolen. Niki tries to calm Micah down, but he is insistent they should get the medal back themselves. Later that night, Monica wakes Micah and tells him that she knows where the thief that took his bag lives. She intends to retrieve it and allows Micah to tag along. Micah uses his abilities to figure out there is no one inside while Monica gains access by using her adoptive muscle memory. As she discovers the bag, the gang returns home. She hides as the gang enters, but when she accidentally drops a comic from the bag, she reveals her position. Two gangsters pull guns on her. Seconds later, the gang drags Monica outside to a van, knocking her unconscious along the way.

Maya Herrera and Sylar are bonding over a picnic in a park. Sylar tries to convince her to abandon her brother, but she insists that she needs Alejandro to control her power. Sylar goads her into activating her power, and she manages to control it successfully before it kills him. Meanwhile, Alejandro is reading a newspaper clipping he found about Gabriel Gray (Sylar's real name), stating he was wanted for the murder of his own mother. Sylar admits to killing his own mother, claiming self-defense. Maya tells Alejandro that she is going to see Mohinder without him. Later that night, Alejandro barges into Sylar's room and attacks him. As they struggle, Alejandro hisses at him in English for the first time, threatening him that he won't get away with taking Maya. Sylar then grabs a nearby fruit knife and kills Alejandro by stabbing him repeatedly in the chest. Maya knocks on the door, and Sylar answers, blocking Maya's view inside. Gabriel and Maya talk and then kiss. He closes the door behind him, concealing Alejandro's corpse lying by the bedside.

Later, Mohinder is in a cab on his way home when he receives a cell phone call. It is Sylar, revealing that he and Maya are at Mohinder's apartment and need his help.

Hiro Nakamura informs Ando that the man that killed his father was Takezo Kensei. From researching his father's files, Hiro discovers that Kensei is using the name Adam Monroe in the present time. Further research reveals that Kaito Nakamura signed an order to have Adam locked up in 1977. Hiro travels back to 1977 and witnesses his father order the imprisonment because Adam was trying to release the Shanti virus. He learns that the virus will be stored in Odessa, Texas. He returns from 1977 and retrieves his sword from Ando, determined to avenge his father's murder.

Adam and Peter arrive at Primatech in Odessa. Time stops around Peter who looks around and sees Hiro. Both are surprised to see the other. Hiro explains that Adam killed his father, and that Hiro must try to kill Adam. Peter, believing Adam wants to destroy the virus, defends Adam and surprises Hiro by threatening him with a jolt of electricity. Hiro charges, sword held aloft.
