I admit that I should not have just copied the part of the lead by another user without verifying the references. Also, when I edited this article for first time, it was reverted by somebody. But I thought that my changes did not take effect and I again edited it which might have appeared very blunt. I apologize for that.

Inkulab

I find that you have contributed the image of the great Kavignar Inkulab. I think, his birth place is Madurai; do you know his correct birth place? --Rrjanbiah (talk) 18:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know he was born in Chennai. I remember he mentioning it in one of his lectures (I was his student long time ago). Never heard of him mentioning Madurai. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 21:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to know that you were a student of the great person. FWIW, I myself have finally bought his "Ovvoru pullaiyum" after 5 years of search; but to my surprise the poems are highly crippled (especially, "kanmani rajam") and many shopkeepers don't know him. And as far as I remember, he is from Madurai and did his Tamil in Thiyagraja College. In case, if you have his number and can share, kindly let me know--so that we can get more info from him. I myself once tried to reach him through New College website/students; but it was all in vain. --Rrjanbiah (talk) 08:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Christianity

Hello,

Could you chime in at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indian Christianity? There is some debate going on regarding the name of the portal, project and the template & icon/flag logo. Thanks.Brian0324 (talk) 20:45, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regading your barnstar

The design is good :-). But the standard barnstar image has been discarded and it does'nt appear like a medal. Anyway, other people may have different opinions though. I appreciate the effort you have taken to prepare the image. :-) -Ravichandar 05:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

haha its ok, it was something expected anyways. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 12:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Upon discussion and consensus ( see here) , The following changes and decisions were taken w.r.t to Indian Christianity workgroup :-

  • The scope of workgroup will be limited to Indian region only for now.
  • The workgroup will be renamed to Christianity in India instead of Indian Christianity.
  • The changes will effect the project pages, Portal and the templates.
  • The templetes will be replaced by a Indian map instead of Tricolor flag picture.

This is FYI - Tinucherian (talk) 04:44, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot for the Barnstar. We live in a very democratic world ,where we are not the only rightly thinking people. And hence should appreciate others' ideas also. I am extremely sorry for not supporting your idea of making our Christianity in India WP as broader Indian subcontinent prjt , But I can defintely help and participate if you really want to have another workgroup for say 'South Asia' or 'Indian sub-continent'. - Tinucherian (talk) 15:12, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of the outcome of that discussion, I would like to remind you that WP:CIVIL applies at all times, no matter how frustrated you may feel with another editor. Recovering from the dreaded "edit conflict"

Here's what to do when you get the message that there's an edit conflict.

  1. Don't panic! Don't press any navigation buttons on your browser (Back, Refresh etc.)
  2. Just scroll down. You should see a comparison of what you entered and what the other editor changed.
  3. Scroll down some more. You should find another edit box containing your version of the page.
  4. Look through this text and you should find your own post.
  5. Copy this text (just your own contribution, not the entire page!) and paste it into the top window, wherever works best.
  6. If you can't really make that work without interfering with another editor's post, just copy the text, go back to the regular page view, and try to edit again, pasting your contribution in.

Hope this helps! If not, there's a lot more info at the official Help page on the subject. SHEFFIELDSTEELTALK 18:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wikiality123!

You are cordially invited to participate in WikiProject Christianity

The goal of WikiProject Christianity is to improve the quality and quantity of information about Christianity available on Wikipedia. WP:X as a group does not prefer any particular tradition or denominination of Christianity, but prefers that all Christian traditions are fairly and accurately represented.

Thanks

Hey. Thanks. It helps... But seriously, I've become sick and tired of cultural/communal groups fighting each other, and me, getting caught inbetween as an innocent lil try-to-do-gooder. Anyways, I'll stick around. But I might not be active on Rajinikanth-related pages for some time. aJCfreak yAk 18:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found the WikiProject by going through your talk page. Ended up creating the shortcut P:CI for the portal. :D Anyways, that's got me trying to spruce up the P:CM which I'd shelved after initial creation, last year. Let's see. I've got tonnes of stuff to do here. Btw, I really don't mind being sworn at. It comes with trying to enforce good edits. :) But what pissed me off was the way that people were mindlessly edit-warring. That too, with anonymity. I mean, c'mon people!!! :) Thanks, btw. Nice to be making another pal at this wonderful space. aJCfreak yAk 19:46, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

wikiality and ajcfreak! I never in my mind thought that you two would take my word (kannada fanatic) against you guys. I don't know much about ajcfreak, but through hogenakal falls article I know about wikiality, that he is a Tamil guy. I did send an appreciation mail because, I have made contributions to that article, long before it got into trouble after the announcement of the water project. so when Hogenakal article was seriously vandalised and wikiality came as a saviour I was really thankful to him for bringing the truth back. I don't know who the person with the ip address 59.92.193.146 in Rajini article. I mentioned the word kannada fanatic against him and also to be honest, I have seen lot of these guys in orkut forums and other media as well with hatred towards Tamil. So I just got pissed off after repeated edits. I am Tamil as well but I am not a Tamil freak or a racist. Just love my language and feel that it should be given the right place it deserves in things related to it. Never in my mind, I thought you guys as fanatics, never. I don't understand what made you guys to take that word against you. May be some misunderstandings, as it always happen. Sorry if you guys are hurt. Carry on the good work you are doing. I won't even give a damn to this Rajinikanth article anymore and also seriously thinking of leaving this stupid wikipedia, as my career is more important than wasting time in this. Peace. Many thanks -- what about the romanized Tamil word "thalchi" that is already there? Badagnani (talk) 18:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you; are you saying that "thalichi" is a corrupted (slang) pronunciation of "thalitthal"? Badagnani (talk) 18:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again--if you have friends who speak Malayalam, Kannada, or any other Indian language -- and who know about cooking, as you seem to (as very many male Indian Wikipedians do not, as I have found!), would you please ask them to supplement the terms in these other languages? Badagnani (talk) 18:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chamaraja nagar reference

Hi,

Just typing it here so that, we reach a consensus and then type it in the talk page. Let us have a sincere argument here and then put the consolidated thing there.

The reference (http://www.hindu.com/2008/02/27/stories/2008022757710300.htm) is a news article, which starts with

"Hogenakkal (Chamarajanagar district): Members of the..........."

Hence we can say that there is a place called Hogenakkal near to Chamarajanagar. Now I feel that, Hogenakkal falls will be close to the above mentioned "Hogenakkal". I hope I can make this conclusion. If not, then please let me know why do you feel that the "Hogenakkal" in the article and Hogenakkal falls have no relation at all.

If you agree with my point, then please mention it in the talk page.

thanks

--Skbhat (talk) 14:18, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually there is no point there and if you want me to agree to it that makes it even harder! When you place a reference, you need to show based on proper sources. I recommend you to read WP:RS pretty well which will help you on this topic. What you have shown is not the least by anyreason mean anything close to what you and Naadapriya are claiming to be. I strongly urge you to show some citation on your claim and I see no point in you guys being so adament. Did Pearll's sun or I anytime wanted to remove Kananda language from the lead? Did we try to take away the section on the etymology just because it was about Kannada? No we didn't! You know why? Because we want the article to talk the truth and not just some one sided view. You want the article to sound non-commital,which is not what an encyclopedia is for. I guess you start to see what it is and help in making wikipedia better. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 14:34, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will go through the reference thoroughly. I have had an overview of that page earlier. But mainly I concentrated on the line "This page in a nutshell: Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." I thought Hindu news paper qualifies the above requirement. If you feel that 'The Hindu' does not qualify please let me know the reason. I will check out any clause which prohibits me from making the above conclusion using the information in the source.

thanks

--Skbhat (talk) 15:03, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to understand on how you compare RS materials. You should read this section which will help you. If we have no material and then we have an article from The Hindu, then Hindu is the most RS there. But, nevertheless in this article we have an article from the Government of India Law Ministry and that makes it more RS over The Hindu. Moreover the Hindu material you showed, doesn't state anything that Charmarajanagar is close to the falls or anything.
