Welcome to the GOCE!
Welcome to WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors "Make it say what it means and mean what it says" – Wikipedia: How to copy edit |
Hello A.JulianEditor, and welcome to the Guild of Copy Editors! We are glad that you have decided to help us in our mission to improve the quality of writing on the English Wikipedia. Here are some links that you might find helpful to get started on your copy-editing journey:
- A how-to guide to Wikipeda copyediting
- Wikipedia's Manual of Style (MOS), a helpful guide to refer to while copy editing
- A quick guide to writing on Wikipedia
You can help with copy-editing requests if you already have familiarity with the MOS and considerable English copy-editing skills, or start with articles tagged for copy editing to gain experience.
Thank you so much for joining the GOCE, we appreciate it!

Problem with your custom signature
You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 05:12, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Blocked for sockpuppetry
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:58, 14 January 2021 (UTC)A.JulianEditor (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I would like to formally apologize for the poor choice I made. This is pretty new to me and not knowing any of the protocols about sock puppetry made me really lose sight of how I was making wrong decisions. At your behest, I will stop using IndianaBoy33 to back up edits I have made. I was using it to help myself when I thought that others were making poor edits against my work. Nevertheless, I understand that that is illegal, so I will never do it again. Instead, I will learn more about the rules and regulations. So when I am fortunate enough to edit again (hopefully, as soon as possible), I will be an even better editor and not make the same mistakes. I hope you understand that I put in a lot of effort into Wikipedia; my heart was in the right place. I am just juggling a lot of things right now, which I bet you could probably understand. I am still in high school, so there is room for me to grow. I cannot wait to get back and edit more articles. I am simply asking for another chance. I see what I did wrong, and I promise I will do better. Please grant me editing access again; I will do a great job. It was an honest mistake that I have learned from. I will do anything; Wikipedia is my biggest passion.
Decline reason:
It's not "illegal", as Wikipedia is not a government with laws. Wikipedia has policies and guidelines. You should take some to learn about the basic ones(not every one) before requesting unblock, and when you request unblock again please tell specifically what you wish to edit. There is no deadline for this, so I would take a good amount of time to do so. 331dot (talk) 21:57, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
- Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:
{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=I would like to formally apologize for the poor choice I made. Nevertheless, I understand that it is strictly verboten, so I will never do it again. Instead, I will learn more about the rules and regulations, specifically sockpuppetry, how to better engage with my fellow editors, and how to better cite my edits. If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}}
with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.
