Featured article status

Hi Essjay, Will you help me get these articles to featured status:

Help would be appreciated, thanks. --Sunfazer |Talk 20:54, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I don't do much article work. I'm a bit busy trying to keep up with all the jobs that nobody else is doing. Essjay (TalkConnect) 19:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR block

Thank you for looking into this error, and fixing it. Much appreciated. Jayjg (talk) 21:10, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Essjay, I have a problem. I am being pushed to revert some pages, as someone tends to remove the legitimate links I provide and the categories that I supply for the article Kosovo. I would appreciate if you consider that before taking an action to block me for 3RR instead of them. I am having a tough time trying to keep some (suspected one) user who keeps distorting the text, and removing my EU sources and citations. Your help would be appreciated,ilir_pz 22:35, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't block anybody for 3RR; I unblocked Jayjg because he hadn't violated it. You were blocked by William M. Connolley; he's the one to take it up with. Issues with 3RR belong on the 3RR noticeboard, where admins who regularly handle 3RR issues can look into them. Essjay (TalkConnect) 19:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

username change

Hi Essjay, I had requested my username to be changed from Ramitmahajan to Lostintherush which you had done. Thanks for that. However, the userpage of Ramitmahajan is still accessible. Will it not be deleted? Lost 08:34, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's only deleted if you request it. Most people prefer to move thier userpages to the new name, and leave the redirect from the old one so that anyone seeing thier previous signatures can come and find them. If you don't want it, just tag it with {{delete}} and a note that you have a new name. Essjay (TalkConnect) 19:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will redirect Lost 08:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbringer

Merged together for convenience. Essjay (TalkConnect) 19:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:24.64.223.203

This IP is being used by Lightbringer again - ref his recentedit. I noticed you had unblocked the IP to prevent collateral damage, but could you block the IP for a while (at least a few hours or so) - I realise that permablocking it will keep out good faith editors as well. Thank you. WegianWarrior 11:29, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like all of the LB work is happening between approximately 1000 (UTC) and 1400 (UTC). Unfortunately, it would probably require a heck of a lot of work to block the IP during those hours and those hours only, and, eventually, it would be figured out by the user.--Vidkun 13:15, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbringer

Could you reblock his IP, as he's using it again on Talk:Freemasonry? It's 24.64.223.203 (talk · contribs). I know you unblocked it as collateral damage, but looking at the contribs, I think it's important to consider that one is measuring a lot of very minor edits (and a fair bit of childish vandalism) on a range of other articles against a long-term problem on one article (down from one category, so there's some "improvement"). We're talking almost month eight with a problem user/vandal/POV pusher who has been subjected to every possible action that can be taken by Wikipedia admins, and still keeps coming back with the same nonsense that didn't make any sense the first time he posted it.

If those people using that address really want to edit WP, then they should really go create an account. At worst, a few people don't edit because they can't be bothered to register, and at best, a whole bunch of vandalism from silly to serious gets prevented. MSJapan 15:04, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Every time I block a Lightbringer address, I get a dozen or more nasty emails from angry people who didn't bother to figure out what was going on before emailing me to call me a list of names and scream at me for blocking them for no reason. I suppose I should be used to it, because everything I do I get screamed at, whether it's running checkusers or renaming users or pomoting RfAs or rejecting RfMs or one of a thousand other things that nobody else wants to do but everybody wants to complain about. Blocking Lightbringer's addresses doesn't do anything at all; he's smart, and he's figured out how to get a new one when one is blocked. At this point, all we can do is hunt down the accounts and block them. Essjay (TalkConnect) 19:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought I'd let you know that this user is doing one of his mass upload schemes again. You may want to take a look. --Hetar 02:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You say, that they are all the same person. Would you please elaborate on that, because I trust Resid not to be a liar. It might be, that they are all editing from one IP-address, but that could also mean, they are using the same university proxy/NAT router. Someone claimed, that Resid is using more than one IP-address, therefore I wonder whether all his IP-addresses are used by Mokotok and Light&Truth as well. Raphael1 11:01, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We don't discuss user's IP addresses, nor do we elaborate on the methods used to identify sockpuppeteers, as that trains them to be better sockpuppeteers. There is no question the three are the same individual. Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:05, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All of Rgulerdems IP-addresses have been used by Mokotok and Light&Truth at the same times? Raphael1 11:26, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unless you've become a member of the Foundation Board, a developer, or a checkuser without me knowing it, I'm not at liberty to discuss personal user information with you. If you dispute the result, you may ask for review by another checkuser, but be aware, the more of us that sign on, the less likely it is the sockpuppeteer will be given any form of leniency. Read: Once two or more of us sign off on the same results, he's going to be blocked permanently. Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will do as you said, since he is already blocked permanently. Raphael1 11:40, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for bothering you. User:Fred Bauder just confirmed your checkuser result. Raphael1 12:15, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
