Mathmo AfD
Would appreciate your input at Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Mathmo as it's been subject to a non-Admin closure. The non-admin in question seems to have totally ignored the fact that it's a DictDef. Mrh30 (talk) 10:36, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Baboon grooming

In more than 10,000 edits over more than two years, that's actually my first barnstar given for a real and honest reason (I think I got another one once for just existing). I've long since come to the conclusion that 98% of barnstars are given out as social signals by social WP climbers, a lot like baboon-grooming. Some of the worst admins I've ever seen, have whole pages of them. But again, thanks for one that I'm sure isn't one of THOSE. SBHarris 17:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bugaboo (The Flea)

Hello JediLofty, thank you very much for taking the time to contact me.

The reason way I moved Bugaboo (The Flea) was because I placed it with the other Quicksilva games released in 1983. To simply put it, the games are to go in order by year of release (1983) then by publisher (Quicksilva) and alphabetically (B). Complicated? Yeah I agree, but I soon got used to it and I hope you'll soon get used to it as well when adding new games. I hope you understand my reason, it's not a matter of doing something wrong, it's only logical and I'm just meeting guidelines. It's all I can do really.

The page itself is an ongoing one will loads of games still to be added in. I appreciate your work in adding a game that we missed earlier. I am currently working to improve the page, but if you wish to help out then I give you my blessing and if you need any further inquiries on this topic, please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll be glad to assist.

Thanks again and take care. Raphie (talk) 13:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC) ==[reply]

Ok me again, I'm just gonna give you an example of how a new game should by listed in the List of ZX Spectrum games page. Say a made up game, Rage of the Animals, Wikisoft, 1990. First look for the 1990 column, then look at the list and you'll see the games are in order of publisher, so just go to W and slot Wikisoft in between Virgin Games and Your Sinclair. Then if Wikisoft had more then one release in 1990, (say Vandal Busters), then place Rage of the Animals above Vandal Busters and PRESTO! you have added a new game to the list. Hope you'll find this helpful when adding new games. Raphie (talk) 14:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wizadora

Amazing. Bumble around the interweb and you're bound to run into someone you know! Although quite how two southern fruitie addicts ended up at Wizadora I shall leave best unasked. VonBlade (talk) 19:16, 7 May 2008 (UTC) (feel free to edit this out once read)[reply]

Michael Starr (playwright)

Hello! While I am usually not in the habit of provoking 6'7" blokes, I can say that I decided to remove the speedy delete tag for two reasons: (1) primarily, I was able to locate some information on the subject (as Michael Starr) via Google, and (2) the article is a bit on the old side and I felt that either AfD or a Prod would have been more suitable. The article does state that referencing is needed (the tag is at the bottom of the piece -- I will move it back to where it belongs). I hope this is a satisfactory explanation. If not, then please give me at least 30 seconds for a good running head start. Cheers! Ecoleetage (talk) 15:36, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, on the Internet you can be whatever you want to be! Why be a wimp when you can be a ferocious bully? :) With the article's subject, try Googling "Michael Starr" -- a few things pop up. Not much, admittedly, but I did say that his notability was "marginal" (he's not Harold Pinter, by any stretch). In generally, I believe it is best form for older articles like the Starr piece to go to AfD for erasure -- I often dig through the WP:Backlog in search of old muck. In any event, I've enjoyed making your acquaintance and I hope to see you online again soon!

The template you're looking for

Is indeed the notaforum template. Simply use the parameter to specify your required message after the words "This is not a forum for general discussion of..." So you might use something like . Only, y'know, something even more entertainingly snide. Steve TC 11:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In view of your recent Wikipedia contributions...

Hello! I hope you don't mind, but I took a look through your recent contributions to Wikipedia and I thought you were deserving of commendation. Please accept this as a token of my appreciation for your Wiki input:

Well, there is a first time for everything! Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 13:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

I appreciate the deletion of cruft as much as the next person who also appreciates the deletion of cruft, but some of the items you've recently put up for AfD probably could have just been redirected. Now, having said that, I absolutely know that there are some ridiculous fanboys who have reverted some Warhammer 40K redirects . . . and those are the ones that have been settled at AfD. There are, however, plenty of bloodless and angstless redirects pointing people toward the light. And this has the benefit of helping folks like Falcorian(sp?), who have worked pretty hard at transwiki-ing a lot of this content: with the edit history intact and no AfD-imposed deadline, these things can get transitioned to more appropriate in-universe repositories. Anyway, my two strips of latinum. --EEMIV (talk) 04:02, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To sort of second the above, I, who usually argue vehemently in AfDs, generally do not oppose bold redirects with the edit history intact. --Happy editing! Sincerely, Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 04:13, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My reading of WP:RS and WP:V is that articles require reliable third party sources for them to exist in Wikipedia. If an article doesn't have any, it shouldn't be here - I don't understand why maintaining the edit history for something that shouldn't be here in the first place is necessary. -- JediLofty UserTalk 10:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're entirely right. But there are other projects that have flimsier standards (which is why I don't edit there). A redirect most of the time just as effectively removes the material while still keeping the info. available for folks that want to move it to another GFDL project. It isn't a matter of trying to avoid policies; it's more an issue of it being a good faith solution that makes the cruft, tripe, dreck, plot summary, unverified speculation, and OR not visible to Wikipedia editors but accessible to people to move to sites that love that kind of stuff. And keep in mind that as much as RS, GNG, and V are policies, so too is WP:AFD, which suggests in part, "Consider making the page a useful redirect" rather than AfDing it. But if someone undoes a redirect and an AfD is needed to get rid of it (as was the case, repeatedly, with Ultramarines, let me know and I'll be the first one to !vote for deletion. --EEMIV (talk) 11:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

uhm... what?

lol, what is that template, im not good with templates O.O KP317 14:05, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

aight thx :D KP317 14:29, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i know they aren't mine, rather the articles that i have created. i just would like to know that way i can post my arguement on the discussion of said article. yayyy! i made a friend! haha! KP317 14:36, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: [this]. First, templating regulars with TPV macros isn't the nicest of things to do. Second, it's a sock of a banned user, which means that all of his contributions are to be deleted, so I rolled them all back.

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
