+1 Reason: Updating to clarify misconceptions with restaurants with similar names with initial post to note that the first Vietnamese Restaurant opened in Philadelphia, PA was in 1977 by the Tran family called Vietnam Restaurant. The first restaurant should be noted. There are numerous articles from 1977-1982 in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier-Post, and Daily News that mentions this restaurant, Vietnam Restaurant that was owned by Guong Minh Tran and his wife, XuanLieu Thi Nguyen. The original owner has already passed but their legacy should live on as they were the first Vietnamese immigrants that established what is know as Little Saigon in South Philadelphia today.

Guong Minh Tran and his wife Xuan Lieu Thi Nguyen opened the restaurant to share their culture with the community from 1977 - 1982. They owned a small restaurant at 742 Christian Street and later opened a larger one at the corner of 901 South 8th Street before selling the restaurant to open the second Vietnamese Market called Cho Vietnam/Vietnam Market.
