  • March 24: A Partial lunar eclipse took place and was mainly visible, the eclipse was in progress at sunset and finished after 21:15 local time[1]
  • September 17: A Penumbral lunar eclipse took place and was mainly visible, it started before 22:00 and finished at around 2:10[2]
  • October 2: A total solar eclipse took place, it showed from around 50% (at Brava ) to about 60% (at Sal) obscuration of the sun in the archipelago after 10:30 AM[3]

Sports

  • CS Mindelense won their eighteenth and sixth straight regional title for São Vicente[4]
  • No colonial championships took place for the third straight year

  • Artur Augusto da Silva's book Apontamentos sobre as populações oeste-africanas segundo os autores portugueses dos séculos XVI e XVII published, it was later published in Cape Verde
