NBA professional basketball team season
The 1990–91 NBA season was the Hawks' 44th season in the NBA . Under new head coach Bob Weiss , the Hawks got off to a 4–1 start, but lost nine consecutive games afterwards in November. However, they went on to win 15 of their next 18 games including a 7-game winning streak, as they finished fourth in the Central Division with a 43–39 record. In the first round of the playoffs, they would lose to the Detroit Pistons in a full five game series. Following the season, Doc Rivers was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers , Spud Webb was dealt to the Sacramento Kings , Moses Malone signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks , and John Battle signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers .
