The 2008 Sukma Games, officially known as the 12th Sukma Games was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Dungun, Kuala Terengganu, Kemaman and some other places in Terengganu from 31 May to 9 June 2008 with featured in the games.[1]
The host
This is the 12th edition of Sukma Games since its introduction in 1986. It was for the very first time the state held such a national sporting event. At that time, all states held their respective Sukma Games except for Malacca, Perlis and Kelantan.
Prior to this games, Terengganu has yet to host any Sukma Games. As this is the first time the Malaysian state held such a grand national sporting event, many of the sports venues and facilities were freshly completed.
Marketing
Mascot
The mascot is a Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion Ocellaris) and known as false percula clownfish or common clownfish . The species is prevalent and can be found in the waters of the West Pacific Ocean, East Indian Ocean and islands off the coast of Terengganu. It is one of the most attractive fish in Perhentian Islands.
The Ocellaris Clownfish is said to be active, energetic and aggressive, resemble the spirit of the athlete whatever the sport. The flag of Terengganu represents the burning spirit and the role played by Terengganu as the host of Sukma Games.
Overall, both the mascot and the logo in every sports reflect the sports activity exhibited. The joy and fun of the 2008 Sukma Games is also depicted by the smiling face of the mascot.
Si Diman is the name of the 2008 Sukma Games mascot. Si Diman is a "bisexual mascot" that can be refer as either male or female mascot.
Diman is short for Darul Iman synonym to the state of Terengganu. The abbreviated word with two syllabus is easily pronounced and remembered.
The word 'Iman' is a principle of Muslims, represents the official religion of Terengganu. Diman is also based on the myth of the greatest warrior of Terengganu long time ago.[2]

The theme song of the games is "Sukma Dua Belas Terengganu 2008" which means The 12th Sukma Games Terengganu 2008.
