The Zalingei Tarco Airlines Antonov An-24 crash occurred on November 11, 2010 when a Tarco Airlines Antonov An-24, registration ST-ARQ, was damaged beyond repair on landing at the dirt strip at Zalingei Airport, Sudan.[1] Preliminary reports indicated that there were fatalities, though the number was unclear, with estimates ranging from only one dead[2] to six dead.[3]
The number of people aboard the aircraft was not confirmed, with various sources indicating a range between 36 and 50 people were on board.[2][4]
The airplane had departed Khartoum International Airport (KRT) at 13:27 and landed at Zalingei at 16:18. The flight had originated in Khartoum and flew to Zalingei via Nyala Airport at Nyala.[1] According to the airline, two tyres of the aircraft burst on landing and it subsequently split in two and burst into flames.[1]
