The 2016 Chinese Football Association Division Two League season is the 27th season since its establishment in 1989. It is divided into two groups, North and South. There are 20 teams participating in the league, 10 teams in North Group and 10 teams in South Group.^[1]

Name changes

Hainan Seamen F.C. changed their name to Hainan Boying Seamen F.C. in December 2015.^[2]
Fujian Broncos F.C. moved to the city of Yancheng and changed their name to Jiangsu Yancheng Dingli F.C. in January 2016.^[3]
Anhui Litian F.C. moved to the city of Harbin and changed their name to Heilongjiang Lava Spring F.C. in January 2016.^[4]
Guangxi Longguida F.C. moved to the city of Nantong and changed their name to Nantong Zhiyun F.C. in January 2016.^[5]
Nanjing Qianbao F.C. moved to the city of Chengdu and changed their name to Chengdu Qianbao F.C. in January 2016.^[6]
Yunnan Wanhao F.C. moved to the city of Shanghai and changed their name to Shanghai JuJu Sports F.C. in January 2016.^[7]
Meixian Hakka F.C. changed their name to Meizhou Meixian Hakka F.C. in January 2016.^[8]
