Alexander Zverev was the reigning champion,[1][2] but withdrew with an ankle injury before the tournament began.

Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev is in contention for the ATP No. 1 ranking at the beginning of the tournament. Medvedev will retain the top ranking unless he fails to reach the quarterfinals and Nadal wins the title.[3]
