Shabani Mountain is located in Dohuk Governorate, Zakho city near Batifa Sub-District, in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The mountain height reaches 1300 meters. The historical and archaeological sites abound in the area. The Department of Duhok Monuments recorded (15) sites, the most important of which are: - The famous Shabani Castle from the tops of the mountain. Kashan Castle. Bejiwan Castle.

History

The Kurds who revolted against the English occupiers in 1919 took a military base in Shabani and a location for launching attacks on the armies of the occupation, and near the castle shot down a British plane during the battles in the "Arab Mulla" near Shabani.[citation needed]
