Rhome is a city in Wise County, Texas, United States. Its population was 1522 at the 2010 census.[5]
Rhome has a large, 12-plaque war exhibit located at Veterans Memorial Park, in a residential area east of the downtown. It is also the home of Eli Miller.
Geography
Rhome is located at 33°4′44″N 97°29′36″W / 33.07889°N 97.49333°W (33.078895, -97.493199). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 square miles (12 km2), of which, 4.6 square miles (12 km2) are land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) is covered by water.[6]

As of the census[3] of 2000, 551 people, 222 households, and 162 families were residing in the city. The population density was 310.6 people per square mile (120.2/km2). The 248 housing units averaged 139.8 per square mile (54.1/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 90.74% White, 0.73% African American, 1.09% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.18% Pacific Islander, 5.99% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 10.71% of the population.
Of the 222 households, 36.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.0% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.6% were not families. About 23.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.0% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 2.48, and the average family size was 2.91.
In the city, the age distribution was 27.6% under 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 105.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $40,667, and for a family was $45,625. Males had a median income of $34,667 versus $24,861 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,965. About 10.3% of families and 13.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.3% of those under age 18 and 17.8% of those age 65 or over.
