Himilo Qaran is a Somali political party founded in December 2018. [1] The party has been formed ahead of the 2020 Somali elections, when for the first time since 1969 Somalia is set to hold one man one vote elections.[2] It is led by Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who is known as 'The Father of Modern Somalia' because of the achievements he made during his service as president of the Transitional Federal Government between 2009 and 2012. [3]

In October 2019 Himilo Qaran joined the Forum for National Parties an alliance of Somali political parties led by former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.
