Square One (stylized in all caps) is the first single album by South Korean girl group Blackpink. It was released digitally on August 8, 2016 by YG Entertainment and distributed by KT Music. The lyrics were written by Teddy Park, Bekuh Boom and iKON's B.I while the music was composed by Teddy Park, Future Bounce and Bekuh Boom.[citation needed]

Promotion

To promote Square One, Blackpink held its first live performances of "Whistle" and "Boombayah" at the SBS Inkigayo on August 14, 2016.[1][2] A week later, on August 21, the group won its first award during a musical program for "Whistle" at Inkigayo.

Commercial performance

The tracks from the album, Whistle and Boombayah both debuted at the Gaon Digital Chart, on no. 1 and no. 7, respectively.
