Bliss is an upcoming American science fiction film, written and directed by Mike Cahill. It stars Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek.[1] A man whose life is in disarray meets a beautiful woman who tries to convince him he is living in a simulation.[1]

It is scheduled to be released on February 5, 2021, by Amazon Studios.

Cast

Production

In June 2019, it was announced Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek had joined the cast of the film, with Mike Cahill directing from a screenplay he wrote.[1] Amazon Studios will distribute the film.[3]

Principal photography began in Los Angeles in June 2019.[4] Filming also took place in Split, Croatia and on the island of Lopud.[5]

Release

It was scheduled to be released on February 5, 2021.[6] It was released sooner however, and was available on Amazon by February 4 at least.[7]

Reception

Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 40% approval rating based on 30 reviews, with an average rating of 5.2/10. The website's critics consensus reads: "When it comes to building an entertaining sci-fi drama around some cool ideas, this Bliss is largely ignorant."[8] According to Metacritic, which sampled 11 critics and calculated a weighted average score of 29 out of 100, the film received "generally unfavorable reviews".[9]
