The Golyan Group is a Nepalese corporate business enterprise that has been operating in Nepal for over six decades. The group has diversified investments in various business verticals, including manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, real estate, financial services, and renewable energy.[1][2][3]

The Golyan Group has a presence in different locations within Nepal, with its headquarters located in Kathmandu. Some of their domestic locations include Itahari, Khanar, Tankisinuwari, Biratnagar, Jhapa, Nepalgunj, Sankhuwasabha Mugu, etc. Furthermore, their products are sold globally in countries like Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Yemen, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Board

The Golyan Group is a family-owned business, and its board members include Pawan Kumar Golyan (Chairman), Basu Dev Golyan (Vice-chairman), Director Shakti Golyan, Director Anant Golyan, and Director Akshay Golyan.[6]

Business

Energy

The group holds a survey license for 900 MW of combined hydropower and solar power projects and aims to reach this target by 2030.[7] They are working on 14 projects, including the Namlan Khola Hydropower Project (135 MW) and the Upper Mugu Karnali Hydropower Project (306 MW).[8] These projects have recently received technical assistance grants from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. [9]

Additionally, they have developed a 20 MW (10 MW + 10 MW) Solar Power plant in Nepalgunj through Pure Energy Pvt. Ltd., with Pure Energy II commencing commercial operation on May 1st, 2023. [10] [11]

Manufacturing

Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd. (RSML)

The Golyan Group has its footprints in the textile industry through Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd., which is one of the largest spinning mills in Nepal. The company has two factories located in Khanar and Duhabi, Sunsari. RSML manufactures polyester, viscose, and acrylic yarns in various blends and has a production capacity of 120 MT/day.[13]

Tricot Industry

Tricot Industry, another enterprise under the group, produces cashmere knitwear and exports it globally. It is certified for social compliance by SEDEX in the cashmere/pashmina industry in Nepal. [14][15]

Shivam Plastic Industry

Shivam Plastic Industry, a manufacturing unit of the Golyan Group, specializes in the production of polypropylene woven fabric and HDPE woven tarpaulin fabric. Its products are sold in both domestic and international markets, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 metric tons.[16][17]

Agriculture

In the agriculture sector, the Golyan Group has invested in Golyan Agro, which has established its brand, "Mato," for agricultural goods and FMCG products. They collect and produce from their farms and other farmers, and the products are sold in the market. Golyan Agro collaborates with the Women Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (WEAN) for the collection and management of farm produce. Golyan Agro also engages in commercial farming and produces various crops, including rice, fruits, and seasonal vegetables.[18][19][20]

Mato Nepal (MATO)

Under the brand "Mato," the Golyan Group operates an agriculture-based FMCG company, selling chemical-free fruits, vegetables, and other products. Mato has outlets in Kathmandu and has also collaborated with the Women Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (WEAN) as part of the CSR.[21] [22]

Hospitality and Construction

Hyatt Place, Kathmandu

The Golyan Group's hospitality business, City Hotel Ltd., operates Hyatt Place Kathmandu, which opened in November 2021. The group plans to construct and operate several other hotels and resorts.[24][25][26] [27][28]

Recently, City Hotel went public in May 2023. [29]
