Shantheyanda Veena Achayya (born 6 October 1961) is an Indian politician and member of the Karnataka Legislative Council from the Indian National Congress.[2] She was a former president of the Kodagu District Congress Committee, while also having served as the president of the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat.[3][4]
Education
Veena has studied political science at Bangalore University.[5]
Political career
In June 2016, Achaiah was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council, securing 31 votes of Indian National Congress members of the legislative assembly.[6][7]
Controversy
Congress leader TP Ramesh from Karnataka's Kodagu district has tendered his resignation from the party following an incident where he was involved in inappropriate behavior with Veena Achaiah during Independence Day celebrations at Madikeri.[8]
