Shulabad (Template:Lang-fa), formerly Shulabad-e Sofla (شولآباد سفلی), also Romanized as Shulehabad-e Soflā and Shūlehābād-e Soflā,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Zaz va Mahru District of Aligudarz County, Lorestan province, Iran, and also serves as the administrative center for Zaz-e Sharqi Rural District. The village of Shulabad-e Sofla merged with the former villages of Asar, Del Suran, Derakht Chaman, Khodadadkosh-e Olya, Khodadadkosh-e Sofla, Sarlak, and Shulabad-e Olya, with its name changed to Shulabad upon its elevation to the status of a city.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population (as the total of its constituent villages before the merger) was 1,063 in 198 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 1,553 people in 336 households,[6] by which time the village had merged with other villages to form the new city of Shulabad.[4] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,531 people in 422 households.[2]
