1825 Virginia gubernatorial election
The 1825 Virginia gubernatorial election was held on 10 December 1825 in order to elect the Governor of Virginia . Former Democratic-Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia's 23rd district John Tyler defeated fellow Democratic-Republican and incumbent member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia's 20th district John Floyd in a Virginia General Assembly vote.[ 1]
General election
On election day, 10 December 1825, Democratic-Republican nominee John Tyler won the election against fellow Democratic-Republican John Floyd . Tyler was sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Virginia on 10 December 1825.[ 2]
