The Minsk Cathedral Mosque (Belarusian: Мінская Саборная Мячэць) is a mosque in Tsentralny District, Minsk, Belarus. It is the biggest mosque in the country.
History
The construction of the mosque started in February 2004 and completed in June 2016. The mosque was finally opened in November 2016 in a ceremony attended by President Alexander Lukashenko and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.[1][2] In December 2019, an Islamic museum was opened in the mosque.[3]
Architecture
With a capacity of 1,500 worshippers, the mosque is the biggest one in Belarus. It consists of an Islamic museum and a hall with a capacity of 250 people.[1][2] It was build on a 2,800 m2 piece of land with Tatarian architectural style.[4]
Transportation
The mosque is accessible within walking distance north of Maladzyozhnaya Station of Minsk Metro.
