Anggia Yulia Angely (born 25 July 1983), better known by the stage name Angie Virgin, is an Indonesian actress and model. She is known for her role as Ketie in Hanny Saputra's directed drama Virgin (2004) and as Airin in Koya Pagayo's directed horror Hantu Jeruk Purut (2006).

Early life

Virgin was born Anggia Yulia Angely on 25 July 1983 in Serang, Banten, to Lutfi Hanafi and Ena Bastari.[1][2][3] She went to New York Film Academy majoring in scenario writing.[3]

Personal life

Virgin is married to Habibie Syaaf, a British-born Indonesian policeman of Betawi descent, with a religious marriage in 2006 and civil marriage in Serang on 5 April 2008, and moved with him in 2010.[2][3][4][5] They had a daughter, Serra Abbie Luthena, who was born through a caesarean section, and a son, Aidan Dude, who was born in London with a same procedure.[2][4] In 2017, she returned to lived in Indonesia for two years along with her children.[3]

Citizenship

In 2017, Virgin revealed that she never registered for British citizenship and still identified as Indonesian even though she's been living in London for seven years.[6]

Career

Virgin started her career as a model in Kawanku magazine in 1999, and made her film debut in Virgin (2004), where she portrayed Katie, a highschool girl who fell in promiscuity and prostitution.[3] The film was a commercial success and later gave Virgin her stage name "Angie Virgin", and nominated her as Best Actress at Indonesian Film Festival in 2005, and Most Favourite Actress at 2004 MTV Indonesia Movie Awards.[3] She later starred in Lovely Luna (2004) which became a commercial failure.[3]

Virgin appeared in several films, such as Hantu Jeruk Purut (2006), I Love You, Om (2006), Film Horor (2007), Pelet Kuntilanak (2011), Taman Lawang (2013), and Hantu Jeruk Purut Reborn (2017).[3] She also work as a scenario writer for two films: Panggil Namaku Tiga Kali (2005) and Cewe Matrepolis (2006).[3]
