TDM[a] is a 2023 Indian Marathi-language comedy film directed by Bhaurao Karhade. The film is jointly produced by Chitraksha Films and Smile Stone Studio, and distributed by UFO Moviez. The film was theatrically released on 28 April 2023.[3][4]

Theatrical

TDM is scheduled to be theatrically released on 28 April 2023 throughout Maharashtra.[6] Initially film was set to be released on 3 February 2023.[7]

Reception

Critical reception

Anup George of The Times of India rated 3.0/5 and write "TDM is well-executed and contains some sincere character moments. Even if the first half drags a little, it makes you care about the characters. As the charming Babu, Pruthviraj Thorat does a fantastic job. It definitely touches the heart and the audience genuinely becomes invested in his life. In the second half of the movie, Kalindi Nistane really shines."[8] Kalpeshraj Kubal of Maharashtra Times gave positive review and wrote "The debutants Prithviraj Thorat and Kalindi Nistane in the lead roles have done a great job. The film does the job of capturing the emotions of the human being in various ways."[9] Sakal is praised the soundtrack album said that: "The songs in the film take the film forward and if they are removed from the film, it will be like removing the soul of the film", and criticised the screenplay.[10] Saurav Mahind of Urbanly gave 2.5/5 rating and praised story, music and cinematography.[11]

Box Office

The film grossed over ₹57 lakh (US$68,000) at the box office in India.[12]

Concerns

After ‘Baban’, we are gearing up for the release of ‘TDM’. Numerous changes have occurred in the cinema's entire entertainment industry as a result of the lockdown in India. However, there is no longer much of a wait for the audience. I always have your love and blessings with me!

On 28 April 2023, the movie was released in Maharashtra, Karhade has expressed concerns about receiving a very limited screens in theatres. The producers were unable to secure screenings despite requests to venue owners. In the response makers reached the theatre to interact with the audience. The film's cast also showed their dissatisfaction.[14]

Speaking about the screenings, Bhaurao Karhade clearly said that:

"Today people are liking the movie 'TDM' and people are expressing their desire to watch this movie, but due to the lack of shows in theaters, this injustice is being done to the Marathi audience and to all of us artists. Somewhere I feel that Marathi cinema is ending, or ending after seeing all these situation."[15]
