Hovea stricta is a shrub in the family Fabaceae, native to the south-west of Western Australia.

The erect shrub typically grows to a height of 0.2 to 1 metre (1 to 3 ft)[1] The species has purple or blue flowers that appear between June and October in its native range.

It occurs on low hills, breakaways and flat plains along the coastal areas of the South West, Peel and Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia where it grows in sandy lateritic soils.[1]

The species was first formally described by the botanist Carl Meisner, in 1844 in the Leguminosae section of Lehmann's work Plantae Preissianae.[2]
