Schizachne is a genus of Eurasian and North American plants in the grass family.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] The only accepted species is Schizachne purpurascens, commonly called false mesic.[1][9][10] Three subspecies are recognized:

Melica smithii was formerly included in the genus, as Schizachne smithii.[1]
