Barrytown is a town in the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island. Barrytown sits on State Highway 6 and is 21 kilometres (13 mi) north of Runanga. Punakaiki is 16 kilometres (10 mi) further north. The town is near the southern end of Pakiroa Beach.[1][2]

According to the 2013 New Zealand census, Barrytown and its surrounds have a population of 237, an increase of 12 people since the 2006 census.[3]

Barrytown was settled in the 1860s and was a centre for gold dredging.[4]

Barrytown School is a coeducational full primary (years 1–8) school with a roll of 43 students as of August 2024.[5][6]
