[edit]- 1851 – Pennsylvania Railroad opens sections of its line from Lockport, Pennsylvania, to Beatty (west of Latrobe) and from Pittsburgh to Brinton.
20th century
[edit]- 1908 – The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway's 2,775 ft (846 m) long Battle River bridge, standing 195 ft (60 m) above the river, is completed.[1]
- 1929 – Ottawa Electric Railway discontinues streetcar service between Carling Avenue and the Experimental Farm.[2]
- 1998 – The Surface Transportation Board gives preliminary approval to Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad's application to build into the Powder River Basin, pending completion of an Environmental Impact Statement.
21st century
[edit]- 2005 – JR East upgrades Shiosai services to use 9-car 255 series EMUs and made the services entirely non-smoking.[3]
