Serednie (Ukrainian: Середнє; Hungarian: Szerednye) is an urban-type settlement in Uzhhorod Raion (district) of Zakarpattia Oblast (province) in western Ukraine.[2] The town's population was 3,505 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census.[2] Current population: 4,044 (2016 est.)[3]. Geographically, Serednie is located exactly between the cities of Uzhhorod, the district's administrative center, and Mukacheve.

The village houses the remains of a Romanesque castle.[4] The village itself was first mentioned in the 14th century,[5] although archaeologists have dated the castle back to the 12th century.[6] The castle is said to have been built by the Knights Templar.[6][7][8]
