Anambulyx is a monotypic moth genus in the family Sphingidae erected by Walter Rothschild and Karl Jordan in 1903. Its only species, Anambulyx elwesi, or Elwes' pink-and-green hawkmoth, was first described by Herbert Druce in 1882.

Distribution

Is known from northern Pakistan, northern India, Nepal, south-western China, northern Thailand and northern Vietnam.[2]

Description

The wingspan is about 100 mm. It is similar to a very dark Callambulyx rubricosa rubricosa, but differs in genital and other morphology. The distal two-thirds of the forewing upperside is dark and the proximal one-third is green and much paler. There is a deep pink basal area on the hindwing upperside and a dark, almost black distal two-thirds in which a narrow lunate purple patch is discernible.

Biology

Adults have been recorded from May to July in Thailand.
