St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School is a Catholic secondary school located in the community of Stoney Creek in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board and is known for its sports teams as well as its various stage performances.

History

Cardinal Newman Catholic High School was established in 1975,[4] and has been working to become one of the highest ranked schools in the area. According to The Fraser Institute's research of Ontario High Schools in 2010, Cardinal Newman ranked in the top 10th percentile of top rated secondary schools in Ontario,[5] and in 2015, was named one of two highest rated schools in the Greater Hamilton Area.[6]

Charity work

Like many of the schools in the Greater Hamilton Area, St. John Henry Newman Catholic High School has aimed to make a difference in their community by continually raising awareness about relevant world issues, and by raising money for various local charities. In light of this growing culture, the 2017 Hamilton Spectator Youth Volunteer of the Year award went to a student from Cardinal Newman High School in celebration of her accumulation of over 3,000 Community Service hours.[7]
