Ohoka is a small semi-rural township on the northern outskirts of Christchurch in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of the stake for a decoy parrot" for Ōhoka.[1]

Education

Ohoka School is Ohoka's only school. It is a state co-educational full primary school[2] with a decile rating of 10 and a roll of 188 students (as of February 2024).[3] The principal is Kate McClelland.[4]

Notable people

Anna Dawson, Pac-12 Athlete of the Year during Senior year at Stanford. Competed with the New Zealand squad at the 2011 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Amsterdam, collecting a silver medal in the Eight.[5]
