Pasar Senen Station is a station located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is the second largest train station in Jakarta after Gambir Station. It is located close to Pasar Senen market area in Senen Subdistrict, Central Jakarta.

Pasar Senen only serves Economy and Business class intercity train except Gumarang and Sawunggalih. It also serves as a stoppage for Jakarta Metro Rail.

History

The first station of Senen was built in 1886 and serve as loading/unloading logistics station. The new station was built few yards away from the old station and was opened on 19 March 1925. The station was designed by J. van Gendt who was head of Statts Spoorwegen (SS) architecture bureau. The station was the first of its kind in Java to have a high level platform, similar to the stations in Netherlands. The station was intended to be the main central station of Weltevreden. However it only last until 1926 and the central station was reverted to Gambir Station.[1]

The station serves both KRL Commuterline and long distance train. 34 long distance trains depart from Pasar Senen station daily.[2]
