Jackson Township is a township in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,273 at the 2010 census.[4]
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 17.3 square miles (45 km2), of which, 17.1 square miles (44 km2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) of it (1.04%) is water.
Demographics
At the 2000 census there were 1,206 people in 452 households, including 358 families, in the township. The population density was 70.4 people per square mile (27.2/km2). There were 514 housing units at an average density of 30.0/sq mi (11.6/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 99.17% White, 0.17% Native American, 0.17% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.91%.[5]
There were 452 households, 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.9% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% were non-families. 16.6% of households were made up of individuals, and 7.5% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.01.
The age distribution was 23.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 28.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% 65 or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.6 males.
The median household income was $42,574 and the median family income was $46,136. Males had a median income of $35,938 versus $21,953 for females. The per capita income for the township was $18,326. About 5.3% of families and 5.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.7% of those under age 18 and 9.0% of those age 65 or over.
