"Prayer for the Dying" is a song by British musician Seal and Augustus Lundell "Gus" Isidore. It was released as the lead single from his second studio album Seal (a.k.a. Seal II) in May 1994, peaking at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and number 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Canada it became Seal's first of three songs to peak at number two on the RPM Top Singles chart, becoming his joint highest-charting single in Canada. In November 1995, "Prayer for the Dying" was reissued as a double A-side with "Don't Cry" in the UK; this release reached number 51 on the UK chart.

In the Philippines, Acoustic singer Paolo Santos covered the rendition from 3rd full-length album, Wave Sessions 2. Filipino rock band Bamboo covered their rendition of "Prayer For The Dying" from their 3rd album, "We Stand Alone Together" in 2007.
